Now that summer is pretty much here, what are your garden plans for this year? How about some herbs! Growing your own is easy, certainly cheaper than buying them from the store, and it’s a fun thing to do with the kiddos.
Here are some herbs we’ve had good luck with…
Sweet basil; Spanish oregano, Greek oregano, lemon thyme; rosemary, spearmint, and English thyme.
Chocolate mint; spearmint and apple mint; and aloe vera (ok technically not an herb, but handy to have around!)
English thyme and curry; limes (ok also not an herb); and more English thyme and Greek oregano.
In addition to cooking (and fresh herbs can’t be beat for that!), you can use herbs in all sorts of ways from infused oils, vinegars, sugars, honey and salts to fresh pesto to herbed butter and homemade herbal teas and even homemade salves and tinctures.
